After we discussed our respective plans. I got more effective advice and some new inspiration. I used to use contrasting colors to create. After the group discussion, I would like to consider choosing a more natural colour palette through a deeper research. About stoves, I'm going to start with their different categories. In modern times, people generally use two types of stoves to cook. The two stoves are gas stoves and electric stoves. In my country, some people still use traditional stoves. Families with traditional stoves are uncommon，Some people even use the traditional cooker as a kitchen decoration, rather than actually using it. These different types of stoves gave me some inspiration for materials, and I might use clay and iron as part of the material. The color may favor black and red, because this is the color of the heating stove. 

This is the first time I have seriously established my proposal.I learned a lot from it. For example, I figured out how to make a more logical timetable. Although the timetable has been made, some details should be changed when implement the plan. Under the limitation of words, I also learned to grasp the key to describe my concept. At the same time, I understand the importance of self-reflection in the whole foundation. If I want to make significant progress, I must keep thinking about my shortcomings. In the current sketch pages, I choose blue, yellow and orange as the point colors. Because some stoves have fire, these three colors are the main colors of the fire. 

In China, people will worship the God of Kitchen on New year's Day. The traditional stoves are decorated with ceremonial food and wine, candles and incense are lit, and on the walls of the stoves are all kinds of traditional Chinese paintings, which have the moral of good luck. Now I'm going to extract some classic elements from some of the traditional paintings related to the stove to develop. This time I want to add some embroidery elements to my work. First, because I'm very interested in embroidery, and secondly, I know that in the future BA study, we will mainly study three areas, knitting, weaving, and printing, and the chance of contact with embroidery will be reduced. At the same time, I found some Shu embroidery materials for reference.

I've experimented with some new materials, watercolors and cardboard that can easily mimic the color and texture of the electric stove, and it's also easy for me to use them to make some collage. And I made some clay samples of honeycomb briquette, I also want to do some other types of coal samples. because firewood and coal are the main combustible materials for traditional stoves in China. Through more in-depth research, I found the history of the stove, in the Han Dynasty in China, there has been the initial period and unique shape of the stove. Then I found photos and information about the relics unearthed of stoves in the Han Dynasty. The two stoves are made of bronze and ceramics, respectively. 

Most of the stoves in the Han Dynasty were similar to ships. Their shape is related to Chinese Idioms. For example “破釜沉舟”

Later, gradually evolved out of the stove painting. In fact, all the traditional paintings are painted on kitchen range. There are a lot of interesting painting elements in it. These elements are very auspicious, representing people's expectation of happiness and wealth. Later, after the founding of the people's Republic of China, the Zao Tou painting also added the design and writing of political tendencies. So far, the data I've collected and the sketch I've done are really close to 2D. So I will add more three-dimensional samples on the current basis.

Doing two projects together is a new challenge for me, because there needs to be a balance between the two project. About green man, I would like to use their smiles and beards as starting point. Because this is a very obvious feature of them, green man will always smile to answer the doubts of tourists, and they all have profound knowledge, and these characteristics make them a major feature of Harrods.

I found some photos of green man visiting other countries, and their distinctive uniforms didn't seem out of place with the attractions.I oversaw a lego toy, a big green man model, which reminded me of the pixel art, the pixel game, and the perler beads is one of typical pixel, so I'm going to use this type of material. In addition to this, there is also a focus on the color of green man clothing-green, which I would like to know why it is green, but in the end I found that in 1909 there was the first green man. 

This time I choose to express my work in the way of embroidery, which is a good application of the knowledge of “SHU” embroidery that I have learned. Although I am not so professional, but I still hope to express this project better in this way.After today's tutorial, I got good advice from tutor,Before that, I was going to use sewing to connect the samples that I had done, but then I learned that I should make my samples in a more professional and technical way, such as punching my samples in workshop and then connecting then with metal things，so I did some technical tests.

I found some information and photos of Chinese women using traditional stoves, which are burning with firewood or honeycomb coal.Those burning honeycomb coal are very beautiful, and the orange flame is in sharp contrast to the black honeycomb coal, and it has a very strong visual effect.So I used clay to make some models of honeycomb coal, but they didn't look regular enough, so I went on to polish them with a grinder.At the same time, I used sewing to collate them, so that these samples would look more natural.In terms of color, I also followed the original colors of flame and honeycomb coal.

In fact, the reference material on the book is more oriented and professional than the simple online reference, and I can find real historical information from it. One of them is the author's account of the relationship between people and traditional stoves in his childhood. Cooking utensils in China are not only a cooking tool, but also a symbol of the pursuit and spirit of food.

Through this book, it also reminds me of my childhood grandmother's stove, when I was very fond of watching grandmother cooking around the stove, but also very much like the murals above the stove.So I'm going to use the more childlike style and the colour palette to make some new samples.

I used pearler beads, foam boards, and wool to make a few small samples, whose shapes were inspired by gas stoves and electric stoves, and then I used the colors of bright flames.I chose to use pearler Beads ，because this handmade material is a childhood memory of many people, and the children are very interested in it, which I think is very consistent with the childlike style I am pursuing.I hollowed out the middle of the foam plate to create a hierarchical visual effect, and it was also used to mimic the groove in the middle of the gas stove.In China, there are myths about cooking and the kitchen God. So after changing the piece’s general shape, it can cover the whole head. I wanted to express the Chinese idiom: “举头三尺有神明” - “The Gods are above your head”.

When I was painting watercolors on sketchbook, I found that the 3D model I was painting couldn't make it look more three-dimensional, and through this project I also found weaknesses in my painting, in order to make my samples look better.I did more exercises about light and shadow when I was painting. At the same time, I tried to maintain the style of Chinese ink painting in sketchbooks, in order to fit the theme of this time.Because most of the murals on the top of the stove use traditional Chinese painting techniques.At the same time, I am also a combination of modern style and traditional national style.

Recently, I've seen some animations and movies about Chinese mythology and gods.Through the study and observation, I found that the present Chinese films are not only the inheritance of traditional culture, but also the change and imagination of people on the basis of history and culture.So I think the same is true of my project, which is to incorporate new elements and concepts on the basis of traditional culture.I'm a detail-conscious person, so when I make samples, I'm more inclined to think of the texture and tactile of their details, and I think that a textile can feel it with different senses, and it's also a very good experience.And the elements of animation are also a yearning for innocence.

In MiyazakiHayao's Animation "Howl's moving castle," the Devil Flame Cacifer signs a contract with the heart of Howl. In the animated movie, it's not only a cooking stove, but it also as the heart of Howl. With this research, I added two more elements to the rest of the project, Heart and Life.I think it's going to make the project more dynamic.For the time being, this part is still relatively flat, so I'm going to continue with research to try to develop this new concept.So far, I found another problem with the project.The color palette of this project, which is very similar to the previous point. And that's because I didn't think deeply about it, so I'm going to continue focus on research to solve this problem.

Today, I suddenly found a very interesting thing, when me and my girlfriend holding hands to take photos, this time the shape of the two hands are really similar to the shape of heart. Through this discovery, I combined those two hands with the heart and drew a new illustration, which was the equivalent of a Chinese idiom “十指连心—The nerves of the fingertips are linked with the heart.; be like a man's ten fingers, so closely linked to one's heart; have the same close relation with the people concerned as a man's ten fingers linked to his heart; The fingers are linked to the heart -- what happens to children is of vital interest to parents.," And I  printed this illustration on one piece of calico ，then sewing it with two samples that I knitted，（the color palette is follow the color of ancient stoves）

Now that the project is going on, I've suspended my new research, and I've started to review and modify what I've done.I went on with my previous project, and I made some prints. I found the shape of the beetle in the first print.In the first print I found the shape of the beetle. The shell of the beetle was very smooth and metallic, so I added some samples of them，and tried to imitate the color and shape of the beetle.Finally, the sample on the Beatles looks interesting, and even with some sense of splendor. If I can get start with this project again, I think I'll add more information about nature and biology.

The project is near the end, Through the study of foundation, I became more and more proficient in how to complete each work better, and supported the development of each step through in-depth research. And in the process of making portfolio, through the guidance of tutor, I began to pay more attention to the arrangement of works and the structure of the portfolio.I also learned to sum up my concept more succinctly and precisely, I still have a lot of technical shortcomings，For example, I can't flexibly convert sample between 2D and 3D，But I've made some progress on this, too.
